via publica | facade design | kureck wiesbaden

In 1999 Nabo was honored by the Corning Museum of Glass (USA) for his columns at the Via Publica in Wiesbaden.

In three layers of glass the artist illustrates old proverbs and lores, such as „Birds singing in the morning are caught by the cat in the evening.“.

Between colored symbols located mid level, are small gold-leafed plaques. The glass roof is reminiscent of floating petals hovering weightlessly over the entrance of the Via Publica. The former owner of the building, Signal Iduna insurance, commissioned Nabo with this art-in-architecture project to emphasize not only the unique location, but also the significance of the historically protected building on the Wiesbaden Rue.
