What lends modern architecture a futuristic character are its glass facades. A challenge that Nabo Gass has been tackling for almost 20 years. He received the Glastec Innovation Award in Düsseldorf for his ideas for facade design in conjunction with photovoltaics. The first implementation followed in 2012 in the Münsterland region. Based on his design, the first high-bay warehouse with a solar facade was built. The glass architecture, combined with sophisticated solar technology, also impressed the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), which awarded the building a gold certification. The building has also won two major architectural awards.
The glass facade of the IGM building in downtown Hanover is dedicated to the trade unionist Otto Brenner. Nabo immortalized one of his central statements in several languages on the glass facade: “The first civic duty is not calm, not subservience to authority, but criticism and constant democratic vigilance.”
