Nabo has resumed his series of glass sculptures, Short Moments, and here you can see some of his latest pieces. They are created through a highly precise and risky process in a fusing kiln. The pieces are based on glass panes painted with glass powder, which are heated to a very high temperature in the kiln and folded at a specific moment. In just a few seconds, the artist must shape the soft material in such a way that the surfaces do not touch at any point. If this is not achieved, there is a high probability that the piece will shatter during the cooling process.
Each Short Moment is thus the result of a unique, tension-filled creative process. Only a few sculptures survive this delicate phase. The finished pieces captivate with their fragile lightness and the unique formal language that can emerge in that brief moment.
